A Very Nervous Patient
Hello… this is Jane Westing just wanting to say Thank you and thought you might like some feedback for your files/website….. wrote this for you….
From an extremely nervous patient!
I hadn’t been to the dentists for nearly 4 years, I was too scared. A rotten tooth and discomfort finally pushed me into having to find somewhere – but could I go through with it?.. I found the Hereford Dental Clinic on the web, saw the word ‘sedation’ mentioned and thought it might just be possible after all!. Taking a deep breath I called and the reception staff assured me that the dentist would only look in my mouth using a mirror at the initial assessment. Anyway, I finally found the courage from somewhere to go along accompanied by my partner. Everyone was so nice and very kind and the receptionist came to get me outside as I was too scared to wait in the waiting room. I gingerly perched on the edge of the couch listening to Faresh whilst feeling very sick. He only looked in my mouth with a mirror and talked to me for quite a while reassuring me. At no point whatsoever did he make me feel stupid for not visiting the dentists earlier and suggested that they did some x-rays only to see what was needed. Any treatment could be under sedation which was then explained in detail to me. I managed the x-rays and agreed to think about making ‘the appointment’.
To cut a long story short, I made ‘the appointment’ and went through with it … scared but trying to think positive I lay back on the couch, was given a tiny injection in my arm, never feeling a thing and the next thing I can remember was getting out of the car with my partner back at home, having had 2 fillings, an extraction and a general clean and polish!.. Everything that I was told was totally true, the staff were so kind and the process was completely painless and I could not remember a thing!…
I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Faresh, Jasmine and Vicky for your excellent service and customer care and would recomend you to anyone without hesitation…. and, for all you nervous patients out there… if I can do it… so can you… and you won’t remember a thing…

Reassured with Sedation at Hereford Dental Clinic – “Brilliant”
Brilliant- thanks to the team at Hereford Dental Clinic, I have been able to sit in the dentists chair without shaking for the first time in years…..
To say that I am terrified if anything to do with dental treatment is the understatement of a lifetime. However, desperation about some real discomfort in my much-neglected mouth led me (earlier this year) to Google terrified of dentists Herefordshire. The link took me straight to the Hereford Dental Clinic website and the Nervous Patient page! What I read there was reassuring- the website is easy to navigate and the information clear, straightforward and open. Impressive is the fact that there was a telephone response to my Email enquiry within just 20minsutes!
Initial visits to the clinic were an equally pleasant experience- starting with the fact that everyone in the team gave the impression (for the first time in my experience) that my anxieties are quite understandable and not in the least odd in any way. Dr Gursh Bajwa seemed to understand instinctively- he made assessments, took X-rays and was able to explain the procedures required and the options available in the most straightforward and kindly way.
Not only did he assure me that pain is not on the agenda in the 21st century, but he explained clearly and patiently how the sedation he recommended would work-this was my lifeline.
Treatment was to involve what seemed like a massive amount of work on three teeth- including crowns and some root-canal work. When the time came for my first (of several) visits for treatment I was very nervous indeed and had to keep some of Dr Bajwa’s words very firmly in my head in order to make myself enter the building. However, once inside, the friendliness of the staff and the environment (including some anaesthetic injection equally so- but it is not just that… the kindness of Dr Gursh Bajwa and the whole team makes a real difference. Nothing was rushed, everyone was extremely patient with me and the follow up telephone calls, and the way they were handled, was something I appreciated very much.
I now have three crowns that feels and behave like my own teeth used to- thank you!

I have no hesitation in recommending the Hereford Dental Clinic. I received the highest quality of care under the care of Dr Gursh Bajwa. Due to a dental phobia I had neglected my teeth over the years. This resulted in a lack of confidence due to the condition and look of my teeth. The Hereford Dental Clinic had only just opened and specialized in nervous patients and seemed appropriate to my needs. I was under the care of Dr Gursh Bajwa who made me feel so at ease. Nothing was rushed, everything was explained most clearly and the options that were available. I decided to have veneers and crowns and everything was discussed and an estimate of the cost, initially the consultation was free.I was very nervous on my first treatment appointment I need not have worried. Dr Gursh Bajwa completely put me at my ease; I even began to look forward to my appointments! I never once felt any pain or discomfort this was very different to my previous dental experiences.Dr Gursh Bajwa is a perfectionist and the result was teeth that were so beautiful and natural, I have not stopped smiling since. I have received so many compliments and request for complimentary cards. What is so lovely is that my new teeth (as they used to look!)That people are so surprised that they are veneers. Extraction with sedation -best decision I have ever made
Following a tearful and incredibly painful period I contacted Hereford Dental Clinic hoping I could be helped out of my situation. As a normally strong person I was feeling very lost and frightened from the service I was receiving in the NHS. I can only say I have had a superb experience and a warm welcome, calm atmosphere and most professional service from Gursh. I needed to feel confident again about myself and following a long chat it had already started. His warm- non judgemental approach was perfect. I had only ever felt disappointed and ashamed of myself when leaving the dentist. I chose an extraction with sedation- (I was praying I wouldn’t be in agony which I didn’t quite believe was possible with dentistry) The financial investment has been the best decision I have ever made. I had been a patient with predecessor practice of the Hereford Dental Clinic for many years and had experienced a gradual deterioration of the standard of treatment.
I had therefore some reservations when I learnt in May 2009 that two young dentists [Dr.Bajwa and Dr.Desai] had taken over the practice; this trepidation however, disappeared immediately when I not only saw the financial investment made in bringing the fabric and dental equipment of the practice into the 21st century, but also the commitment of the two dentists to giving their patients state-of-the-art dental treatment. I have a dental phobia- I am petrified. But, after three years of lost fillings, lost crown, infection in the gum, and lots of pain, I decided on January 1st that my resolution for 2010 was to get my teeth fixed! I was tired of smiling at people behind my hand: I was very embarrassed about the gaps in my mouth.
I live in Mid-Wales and dentists are thin on the ground here! I wanted sedation and could not find a dentist who would do that: then, thanks to the internet I came across Hereford Dental Clinic and a wonderful page about nervous patients, but it then took me almost three months to actually pick up the phone. I was really nervous. When I summoned up the courage to make the call- I talked to Vicky and she was amazingly re-assuring and explained about what would happen on the first visit. She was wonderful when I arrived at the surgery and helped to calm me down and understood my anxieties, thank you so much Vicky, I really appreciated your friendly welcome.
I then met Dr. Gursh Bajwa, who was fantastic. For the first time in my life a dentist didn’t make me feel stupid and childish because of my fears. He was very calming and patient and I understood everything about my treatment, which he explained in detail and which he would finish in just 2 appointments. I was still very worried before my first treatment, but the sedation was nothing short of miraculous. I don’t remember very much, but at last, the fear had gone and I went home with a repaired front tooth and all my fillings in place! I was slightly worried about the second visit but that was as non-threatening as before and this time my teeth looked wonderful- and complete! I could smile again. It was brilliant. My quality of life has changed dramatically- I can eat properly and chew properly now and I can speak to people face to face and not behind my hand. I can’t thank Dr Bajwa enough and also his kind, considerate dental nurses, they were so friendly and competent; and as for Vicky and the other receptionists, they are angels!
Thank you all, my fears have been conquered, I feel very proud of myself- but of course it’s all thanks to you. I won’t be worried at all about my next visit.

I never thought I would ever say this – but actually I like going to the dentist now. Before the practice changed hands the place was dull and boring, old magazines and uncomfortable chairs. Now it’s bright, modern and we can watch TV, it’s great with lovely friendly staff who are very professional. I’ve been given excellent treatment. My dentist was always mindful and considerate
Having had a very bad experience in the past, I was more than a little reluctant to embark on a rather long treatment of having an implant fitted. I was offered sedation for the first part of the procedure which was a huge relief. Although the treatment lasted six months I was seen on numerous visits to make sure all was well. I am still a rather reluctant patient, but my dentist Faresh, was always considerate and mindful of my fear of dentists the staff in general were helpful and pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend the practice to friends and family, in fact it was through a recommendation which lead me to the practice in the first instance. Dear Dental Clinic Staff,
I would like to thank you for the excellent care I have received since changing dentist. I have spent two years moving between dentists in Birmingham and Herefordshire before changing to you and had been in pain for approximately half that time. Now I can live life without constantly complaining about my teeth. My last four holidays were ruined by toothache and I definitely would not recommend to anymore flying with an infected tooth.

Having had sedation for an extraction on an infected wisdom tooth was just fantastic within, what felt like seconds. I was out of it, not knowing or feeling anything at all. Thanks for giving me my smile back. I know I was a nervous/scared patient and had missed appointments with my old dentist and had not been in for 3 years since I came across your site on my laptop and heard you did sedation, so sent you an email and one of your lovely receptionists rang me within minutes which I wasn’t expecting. You told me about what you did and made me feel welcome I eventually got the courage to go to the dentist thanks to your lovely testimonials and staff. On my first day you made me feel part of your little family and instantly I felt secure. After a couple of visits my main treatment began I had to have extractions, filings, whitening, false teeth put in, with the help of sedation I was calm and relaxed to sit in the chair which allowed hours of work to happen my dentist was always asking if I was ok and being nice and supportive, after just 3 sedation visits all the work was done and I had a lot of work to be done. After the first sedation I got my side smile back and by the last one you couldn’t put me down because they helped me remember how to smile by giving me my confidence back. I am very grateful for what they have done to improve my teeth and confidence they are very nice people and so good at there job by always making sure I was ok by ringing me up the next day, anyone that is in my situation to scared to go to the dentist not wanting to go because of nerves, please go especially to these guys they will make you forget your at the dentist and by the end they aren’t just the dentist, they are people you would class as friends. Sedation is very good and I highly recommend it, it builds you up more so by the end you won’t be bothered by going to the dentist again. They do a dental plan which I had as I needed a lot of work done but it was at a bargain price really when you look at what these guys actually did, they have done so much that I am always smiling, so don’t hesitate and put it off you could be so happy and smiley like me with just an email or phone call, I’m always going to be grateful and never thought I would say this but I’m looking forward to seeing them again next May.

Wonderful treatment I received
I am a very nervous patient and was really worried about having the sedation. The dentist was very reassuring and the sedation made everything so much more manageable. After the rest of the afternoon recovering at home I felt fine with no nasty after effects. Cured underlying dental problems – stabilised the situation
Now that my course of dental treatment has been successfully completed I am writing to express my satisfaction with my experience at Hereford Dental Clinic.
As you are aware, I was referred to Hereford Dental Clinic because the NHS dentist I was then attending was unable to address my particular problems under the NHS scheme. I was impressed that you took time to thoroughly understand my clinical and personal problems and to build trust before embarking on a course of treatment. Of course, it also helped that you guided me through a programme of self-help that cured the underlying dental problems and stabilised the situation before providing the required prosthetic solution.

I know I am in good hands
I joined the dental clinic in 2010 and on my first check was referred onto Dr. Jelley as I was found to have gum disease Periodontitis, which can result in the loss of teeth plus other problems. (I had previously had regular checks at another practice but this was never diagnosed). Dr Jelley did a Pocket Chart and we started a treatment regime a simple remedy really which involved using the Interdental Brushes twice a day, regular checks and a deep clean. The treatment started in February 2011 and I am delighted to say that on my check in June 2011 was found to have healthy gums. My mouth feels so clean and fresh and I thank Dr Jelley for her kindness, care and encouragement through the treatment. I have to say I am very impressed with the attitude and the warm welcome always received from the staff. I used to be so nervous attending the Dentist but not now I know I am in good hands.

Your manner is very relaxing, kind and above all patient. I am a lot more comfortable in your presence and can now trust a Dentist.
You have the people skills that cannot be trained, you have the ability to put a very nervous patient at ease  by explaining procedures and progress, you keep them in that relaxed state of mind to the point that a visit to the dentist no longer fills me with horror or dread.

From the start of my treatment I was made to feel at ease and relaxed and quickly got to know the staff.
The treatment was not as bad as I had thought and after listening to others experiences about braces I realised that my experience with braces was not as bad as I’d been imagining. After 13 months of treatment I am so pleased with my end results. My teeth look amazing and people keep commenting on how good they look.

I am writing to thank you for all your help and support. I have recently had dental treatment involving my upper front teeth which has enabled me to enjoy smiling again. Due to ill health and the treatment I received my front teeth left a lot be desired; with extractions of teeth and other necessary treatments this caused me to have quite a noticeable gap in the upper front teeth and some discolouration.
I joined the Hereford Dental Clinic in August 2011, and with their professional and dedicated care, within a couple of weeks I have a smile I can be proud of. The before and after photographs taken during this treatment are amazing comparing the photos after the treatment showed a wonderful transformation, it has made me feel much more confident and a much happier person. My first contact with the Hereford Dental Clinic was when I hesitantly emailed Kelli Hopton from Switzerland where I am currently living, to ask if it would be possible to arrange a course of treatment during my two week return to England. No matter how minor my initial queries were, she immediately replied with kindness, understanding, patience and positivity.

After meeting with Gursh I lost all my fears and gained total confidence in him and his team’s dentistry and interpersonal skills. From there I was comfortably sitting in a modern non clinical designer decor clinic, which I appreciated. Their teamwork was excellent and allowed further follow up appointments to be made in my tight schedule. I must add here my praise for Kevin Thomas and his guidance, attention to detail and his top class dentistry skills. I also had many good smiles and laughs with him, as indeed I did with Gursh and Kelli. Amazing bonuses for me!
Gursh’s statement of his ambition: ‘..improving patients’ lives with smiles…’ has certainly been fulfilled with me. I have a wonderful, confidence-giving set of teeth now and can for the first time ever in my dental experiences, look back upon my two weeks spent with him and his great team, with a big broad smile.

”Wonderful experience & would recommend”
From the very beginning of my treatment with Hereford Dental Clinic. I have found all the members of the team to be most helpful. I underwent a dental implant which has increased my confidence greatly.
In the beginning Gursh discussed the possibility of having a dental implant. At no point did I feel pressured into any treatment. There was always adequate time to reflect on my options.
Gursh forwarded me to Faresh in order to provide care as at the time he had the relevant experience to best support me.
After an extensive consultation period, in which I had x-rays and was thoroughly counselled in my options. It was decided by myself and Faresh to proceed with an implant. It was also necessary to include a separate procedure which involved a sinus lift. This caused me a little anxiety, but due to the caring nature of the team and the relationship I had built up with Faresh, I had trust in his ability. I had sedation during the procedure which I found to be a wonderful experience and would recommend.
For the treatment I choose to benefit from a re-payment plan over 12 months as this suited my financial situation. The finance team were very helpful in providing options and quotes.
Faresh fitted the implant several months after treatment had begun, which allowed for adequate healing time between each stage of the treatment. As a busy working mum of two it was difficult at times to fit in appointments but the reception staff were always accommodating and understanding.
Faresh gave helpful tips, to care for my implant towards the end of treatment in order to maintain a healthy mouth and gums allowing me to smile with confidence.

“Any decision to undergo dental implant surgery is not to be undertaken lightly”
The principle reason for such a statement is that such a decision can lead the unwary potential patient into a minefield.
When I made the decision to have full implants for both the upper and lower jaw, I initially undertook a period of research on the internet. This caused me to immediately dismiss any prospect of going abroad for so called “cheap and affordable dental surgery”. The reason behind this decision was based upon four factors:
Firstly, it is not a procedure that can be initiated and completed within the time scale of a “holiday”.
Secondly, I have always had a belief that the patient as a “customer” must always have ready access to the dental practice.
Thirdly, I took full notice of horror stories from people who had disregarded common sense and opted for overseas surgery.
Fourthly, the UK has some of the finest Dental Surgeons in the world. Those UK trained dentists have access to the best of modern techniques and the best available equipment.
Having taken all of these factors into consideration, I turned my attention to local dental surgeries that offered dental implants surgery. In the end I settled on the Hereford Dental Clinic. One reason for this choice was that it was only a few miles from where I lived. However, the principle and overriding reason for finally deciding to have surgery there was to be found in the form of Dr Faresh Desai.
Dr Desai instantly put me at ease, the procedure was comprehensively outlined and all of my questions were more than adequately answered. Importantly, the cost analysis fell within my budgetary range.
The surgical process was painless, with relatively moderate post-operative discomfort and the outcome was just as I had been promised. Within a short period of time, for adjustments and reviews I was eating quite normally and enjoying the sight of my “perfect smile”.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending both Dr Desai and the Hereford Dental Clinic to anyone seeking to undergo Dental Implant Surgery.

“Very professional, friendly and helpful”
My dentist referred me to a clinic specialising in implants. I attended a preliminary interview, found it clinical and impersonal. Not somewhere or someone I felt comfortable with. I went home to consider whether I could pursue a course while not feeling easy with the prospect and decided to go online to see if there were any other clinics in the area. After I saw Hereford Dental Clinic site I didn’t look any further. It is so well constructed and details such a comprehensive list of treatments I sent an email asking for further information on implants. The reply from Kelli came almost immediately with a download information pack and an invitation to go along and see them.
On my first visit I was welcomed into a lounge area where Dr Faresh Desai explained in great detail exactly what would be done and an approximate time scale, so different from my previous experience. I had a full mouth xray and was shown on a large screen the position of existing teeth and how my implant would be fitted in.
A course of treatment was arranged and on all subsequent visits I was greeted by friendly and helpful reception staff. There is alot of work involved with an implant and Faresh conducted it all in a very professional manner and explained after every treatment exactly what would be done at the next appointment. He promised I would have my implant by Christmas, and I did! It is wonderful and I intend to treat it with the respect it deserves, again with guidance from Faresh.
I am with a Denplan scheme surgery at the moment. Otherwise I would have all my dental treatment at Hereford Dental Clinic.

Before undertaking the major dental work required, I researched dentists across Southern England. The reputation of the Hereford Dental Clinic was impressive and on my first visit I knew this was the place for me.
A superb, stylish and modern dental practice, with the best and most professional team possible.
Every visit for me is over a two hundred mile journey but it is well worth it.
The personal care that I have received on every occasion, was always first class. The entire team is outstanding, especially Faresh, Kelli and Lucy.
