Toothbrush Gets Technical With Mobile App!

This may sound like a strange concept to combine a toothbrush and mobile app – but an American company (Beam Technologies) has developed the worlds first “smart toothbrush” which has been taking the US by storm and has now also started to enter the UK markets!

The toothbrush is a manual one…but with a twist. After each brushing session the toothbrush will send information about your hygiene routine over to your IOS or android app.

The mobile app shows the data with an easy to use interface which clearly highlights the important areas, such as: not brushing your teeth twice a day.

The app also contains a timer that plays music for two minutes so you are able to easily stay on track to brush your teeth for the recommended length of time!

Beam technologies have already indicated that they are looking at updating the app to include game like achievements and social media sharing to reward people for practicing a consistent healthy oral hygiene routine.

Red Nose Day Appeal Prize

Alongside our Red Nose Appeal of donating £1 per like on our Facebook page (up to £1,000) – We are also running a competition to win either a teeth whitening or botox treatment (worth £350).

Age Concern – “Planning For Later Life”

We are very pleased with the recent success of the Age Concern event “planning for later life” held at Hereford Shire Hall on the 4th October 2012.

The charity who runs the event, Age UK Hereford & Localities did an excellent job in the planning and execution of the event, and everyone at Hereford Dental Clinic are fully supporting this charities worthwhile aim of supporting the older generation.

“A wallace and Gromit inspired tortoise sculpture thank you present”

One of our patients was so happy with her new smile from her dental crowns treatment, she made us a rather impressive tortoise sculpture based on her new smile with a “wallace and gromit esque grin”!

The intricate detail and the level of skill required to make such a sculpture is simply outstanding and amazing and we are really pleased that our patient was not only really pleased with her smile but that she would take the time to make such a sculpture for us, in honour of her smile!

Dr Gursh Bajwa said “giving our patients the results they want in the most relaxing and safe environment is our main goal at Hereford Dental Clinic. When a patient goes out their way to do something like this it really means a lot to the whole dental and supporting team and provides us all with real job satisfaction! Well done to the whole team and thank you very much to our patient – We look forward to seeing you at your next check up.

This patient was unhappy with her upper crowns. She felt they were too wide and not a good colour match. We replaced her crowns with natural looking all ceramic restorations after a diagnostic waxup was done.

2012 Age Concern Event

Hereford Dental Clinic are proud to have had a stand at the 2012 Age Concern Event held at the local community centre in Hereford.

The events aim was to showcase a collection of services in the Herefordshire area that are available to the elderly community.

Alongside our dental stand there was a wide range of other services such as:

Hearing aid testers
Fire protection and prevention
Alzeihmer’s society
Solicitors
etc

The event was a really good chance for us to interact with our elderly community in a non-dental environment. It was a really nice, relaxed and comfortable setting that allowed the elderly people of Herefordshire to come and get some advice on all aspects of their life, while enjoying a nice relaxing tea and biscuits!

The event was very well run by the organisers and this was evident from the amount of people who attended.

Representing us at the event we had our Clinical Denture Technician, Kevin Thomas, our practice manager Julie White-Edwards and our patient co-ordinator, Kelli Hopton.

They all thoroughly enjoyed the short event and would gladly go again next year. They liked meeting the local elderly community and happily answered any questions they had.

Even though the event only lasted a couple of hours it was more than enough time to showcase a wide variety of invaluable services to the local elderly community.

We want the elderly populace of Herefordshire and the surrounding areas know that they can count on us to be there for them and we will treat them with the patience and care they deserve!
